More than 250 dignitaries and guests were on hand Friday for the ceremonial grand opening of the first poultry litter-fired power plant in the United States.
The 55-megawatt Fibrominn plant uses turkey litter as its main fuel.
Gov. Tim Pawlenty said this western Minnesota town of Benson should be proud to host such a unique, nationally renowned plant.
"There's gold in that there turkey manure," Pawlenty said. "You are turning something no one wants into something that everyone needs."
